Xudong Sun is an astronomer at the Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He worked as Research Scientist at the Hansen Experimental Physics Laboratory at Stanford University from 2012 to 2017. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Physics from Stanford University. Dr. Sun is interested in a variety of solar and stellar physical processes, in particular those that involve magnetic field. He is a team member of the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager, and a Science Working Group member of the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope.
