COFFIES PI J. Todd Hoeksema is a Professor of Physics at Stanford University. His primary professional interests are the physics of the Sun and heliosphere, with particular emphasis on measurement and understanding of the solar magnetic field, and also enjoys strategic planning. He leads the the Solar Observatories Group at Stanford and has been involved with three solar observatories: the Wilcox Solar Observatory (WSO), the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) on SOHO and the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on SDO. He spent four years as a Heliophysics Discipline Scientist at NASA HQ and has served as the Chair of the Solar Physics Division of the AAS. He earned a PhD in Applied Physics at Stanford and was recently named a Distinguished Alumni of Calvin College. His favorite coffee is Peet’s Mocha Java.
