Manek did his Integrated Masters in Physics at Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai, India. He finished his MS and Ph.D. in 2017 and 2021 respectively, from the Applied Mathematics department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, under the supervision of Prof. Nicholas Brummell. He was also a visiting scientist (Newkirk fellow) at High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) during 2019-21. Bhishek’s research investigates the magnetohydrodynamics of the deep solar interior and also emergence of the magnetic flux at the solar surface and corona. Specifically, he uses large-scale computer simulations to understand the transport of magnetic fields from the deep interior of the sun towards the surface and its eventual emergence at the photosphere to form solar active regions.
