Shea Hess Webber (Stanford) is a Barista of the CET and member of the Helioseismology Team. Her research interests focus on bridging the physics gap between sub-surface acoustic perturbations with observable surface features; with particular interest in coronal holes. Currently, she is working on the development of NRT acoustically-derived far-side magnetic flux maps for use in flux transport, coronal and solar wind models. Shea’s favorite color is olive green, she has three cats: Bengal cat named Kelevra (“Bad Dog” in hebrew), a tabby named Cosmos, and a black cat named Umbra, and her favorite sports team is the Baltimore Orioles [baseball].

Shea is also a member of the Kavli Institue for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC), the National Solar Observatory’s Users Committee, and recently finished a term as an elected member of the American Astronomical Society’s Solar Physics Division (AAS/SPD) Committee. She is also a member of the Heliophysics Coalition on Public Policy.

Shea is an avid supporter of Education and Public Outreach (EPO) and has participated in many outreach events over the years. She has now moved into the role of organizer for many such events, most recently including:
