My broad scientific interests are in stellar astrophysics, with a particular emphasis on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), convection theory, and the use of waves as a seismic probe of stars. Over the last five years my research has concentrated on two major topics: the numerical simulation of convection within low-mass stars like the Sun and the use of seismology to probe stellar interiors and coronae. Specific projects have included the study of the influence of rotation on stellar convection through the use of numerical simulations (Featherstone & Hindman 2016a,b; Matilsky et al. 2019, 2020; Hindman et al. 2020), the theoretical modeling and the observation of the propagation of magnetohydrodynamic waves produced by solar flares (Hindman & Jain 2015, 2016, 2018; Allian et al. 2019), and the helioseismic detection of convective motions below the Sun’s surface (Greer et al. 2015, 2016a,b). These projects have involved an admixture of theoretical deliberation, numerical computation, and data analysis.
